👑 The Heart & History Behind The Wig Wrangler

The Wig Wrangler is the foundational heartbeat of everything we do, born out of a deeply personal battle, a Texas spirit, and an unwavering mission to bring comfort to cancer fighters.

In 2015, the founder of Twisted Wig received the devastating news that she had incurable Stage IV cancer. What followed was a multi-year battle of trying every kind of alternative hair, experiencing the heartbreak of growing her hair back only for it to be taken by treatment again, and navigating cold cap therapy. Ultimately, she chose to reclaim her power: she removed the "hair variable" entirely and shaved her head for the final time.

Wigs transitioned from a choice to an absolute necessity. But rather than looking back in sadness, our founder looked around her treatment centers and saw so many other women struggling through the exact same painful shifts. Driven by a desire to recycle, reuse, and give back, she began gathering donated wigs—including many from her own personal collection.

Being from Texas and driving a Jeep Wrangler, she loaded up her vehicle with these beautiful crowns and brought them directly to patients during her own oncology treatments. She didn’t just hand out hair; she sat with these fighters, teaching them how to wear, style, and care for their wigs during a time when absolutely nothing else in their bodies felt normal.

Texas locals loved the mission, the Jeep, and the cause—and the name The Wig Wrangler stuck.

The Mission Continues: Don't Let Our Fighters Go #WigNaked

While the e-commerce retail store of Twisted Wig is officially sunsetting, The Wig Wrangler mission is not going anywhere. Our core commitment to our community remains as strong as the day it was born. We will continue to collect, refresh, and distribute alternative hair to local Texas Oncology Patients, ensuring that no fighter has to face their journey feeling uncovered or exposed.

We are actively and enthusiastically accepting any and all wig donations to keep this mission running strong. If you have premium pieces, gently used styles, or alternative hair care items you would like to pass along to a fighter who needs it most, please ship your donations directly to our team at:
